An up-and-coming fighter is  shaping up for his first bout at Peter 'The Warrior' Warren's brand new boxing gym at Clubs of Marlborough.

Eleven-year-old Fergus Campbell is showing plenty of promise and the young boxer's mother Paula Mossman said her son had really taken to the sport.

"He goes there at least twice a week and spars on Saturday.

"It's fantastic for his fitness. He has to concentrate because when he gets into the ring he has to have his wits about him.

Shane Cameron helps personal trainers get fighting fit

Shane Cameron, perhaps best known for the one-sided 'Fight of the Century' against David Tua, racked up 29 wins during his successful professional boxing career.

Now he's passing on his wide range of skills to personal trainers, adding boxing-focused routines and fitness techniques to their repertoire.

"People who walk into a gym want to be challenged," Cameron said.

Personal trainer at the PT Collective, Kylie Senior, recently attended the Counterpunch session run by Shane Cameron in Nelson. She took the course because "you can't go stale in this industry."
