Around Picton

Until early June Paul Sugrue's yacht "Sioux" was on its mooring in the heart of Waikawa Bay here in Picton. The owner of the mooring noticed that the vessel had disappeared around 4th June. He contacted Paul who came straight up to Picton to begin his search for the vessel but now after nearly 4 weeks of intensive efforts by both Paul and the Police there is no sign of the yacht anywhere.

Paul has increased the reward to $10,000 for information leading to the recovery of his Vessel.

Paul did not have  "Sioux" insured so it is a major loss to him and we at Vining Shipbrokers appeal to all our clients - both Vendors and Buyers to keep an eye out around all the marinas, rivers and  harbours right around New Zealand for any centre cockpit yachts that have suddenly appeared in your area.

Have you seen this vessel??

The Chieftain design is easily identifiable in New Zealand waters in that it is a centre cockpit design and there aren't to many 38ft centre cockpit yachts around New Zealand. While it is easy for a thief to repaint the boat to avoid detection it is a lot harder to redesign the unusual window shape and change the transom hung rudder fitted to this vessel.

If you see a vessel that might be Pauls boat please ring either the Picton Police on 03 5203 120 or Wellington Maritime Police on 04 472 01552 they will be pleased to hear from you!
